PlayStation VR Review: The Good, bad and ugly

The VR market is boiling. The newest player is Sony PlayStation VR headset. And there are other products such as Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. This VR thing is going to be the next paradigm shift in the game industry. We started from pixel games, 720p games, and 1080p games. And now we are in VR games. This VR headset begins the next phase, the way video games played. Here we take a look at the PlayStation VR (Sony VR). Sony VR Its first showed in the GDC 2014 and was known by ‘Project Morpheus’. And now in 2016, it has a release date and Price.

PS VR Release Date and Price

The Official Price of PlayStation VR is $399 (€399,£349, A$549) which is same as PS4 Launch Price. And you can start PreOrder it from March 22 onwards from the official site. The product will release in October 2016 just before Christmas holidays. More than 230 companies work with Sony to create games for PS VR.

Design

Take a look at by yourself. It has a full HD 5.7-inch screen with a 100-degree field of vision. It has a refresh rate of 120HZ highest compared to rivals. The games can run at 120fps natively. But first, early games won’t run it 120fps. However, PS4’s reprojection software will make it look like the game is running at 120fps. The number of head-tracking LEDs is now nine. So there won’t be any lag issue. The headset can be used when wearing glasses and has a button to on and off.

Hardware

Sony VR can connect to PS4. But there is a secondary box that connects PS4 and Sony VR HDMI and USB.Its to handle headset’s Operation. It also featured an HDMI-out, which is used to connect a screen and see what’s the user seeing. And there’s a rumor that wireless Sony VR is also is in the work. PS VR used PlayStation camera to track motions. The games are controlled using PS4 Dualshock 4 controller.

PS VR games and Movies

The games are what everyone is looking at. Sony announced that PSVR would have a ‘cinema mode’ whilst wearing the VR headset. It allows you to see the menu in 2d and play video and audio, including 360 videos and images, from the Media Player. But there’s no mention whether this would be in a virtual theater or would simply be a floating screen. There’s an impressive lineup of games for PS VR. The notables are.
